keeping track of the lineages

Postby veritas_in_nox » Sat Apr 03, 2010 2:49 pm

Okay, I keep finding A.'.A.'. lineages on the Internet, so I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if I'm missing any and who started the lineages.
http://www.thelema.org/aa This is the Jane Wolfe lineage- the one that runs this forum.
And there's also:
http://www.ordoaa.org No idea.
http://www.outercol.org These guys' email address bounced my email back.

Who are these others? Are there more?

From http://www.thelema.org, our official position on the matter:

Various lineages have survived. Claims are periodically encountered that one individual or another is an authentic link to A.'.A.'.. Some of these claims are quite real; some are honest mistakes; and some are fraudulent. It is not our present purpose to play arbiter to these claims, to upraise one or knock down another. It is a universal truth of Initiation that each student, at each step along the way, gets the teacher he or she "deserves," based on the real maturity and needs of the soul; and that while sometimes spiritual growth is fostered by finding the BEST teacher, at other times it is best fostered by lessons of discrimination taught in the School of Hard Knocks.

In this matter we give but one sage piece of advice: "By their fruits shall ye know them!" The Works of the Adept, the fruits of his or her garden, are the signs of his or her attainment.
Love is the law, love under will.
Yours in L.V.X.,

I'm not asking for the official opinion on these lineages, I'm just trying to figure out where these ones come from.

http://www.ordoaa.org/ is also the Jane Wolfe lineage.
http://www.outercol.org is the one officially promoted by the O.T.O., with links to Marcelo Ramos Motta.

Why does it have two websites, one of which is substantially different than the other?

The www.thelema.org/aa page contains an introduction to the A.'.A.'., some A.'.A.'. documents for someone interested to review and information on the legacy of Jane Wolfe.

The ordoaa.com site contains the salient points of each grade from Probationer up to Phliosophus. It contains the grade syllabi from Student up to Adeptus Minor and some source documents to review.

The thelema.org site serves more as a "hey, you into Thelema and wanna know about the A.'.A.'.? Here ya go"

The ordoaa site is more like "Ok, this is what the grades are, this is what the people in the grades have to do and learn and here are some important documents pertinent to your inquiries."

That's my take on it, just from reviewing both sites.
"To advance—that means Work. Patient, exhausting, thankless, often bewildering Work. Dear sister, if you would but Work! Work blindly, foolishly, misguidedly, it doesn’t matter in the end: Work in itself has absolute virtue." -Magick Without Tears

Isn't the better question... "Why have two unless they are substantially different from each other?" :?:

True, but why are they different to the extent that a casual observer (or just me) assumes them to be from separate lineages?

I think that would be you, then.

After all, you seem very interested in sorting out who's who. I don't think those who are responsible for those pages care too much about the personality angle.

www.whois.domaintools.com will tell you who those websites be. You will be surprised.
